Bird Bar The dark birds are Great Cormorants (there is a large colony in Mai Po). The taller grey birds are Grey Herons.

Mudskipper The local "what's here" sign told me the name of the species. I really like the little blue dots. These guys go from the little streams to the larger mud areas and seem to spend a lot of time fighting over territory.

Pied Avocet On One Leg These birds were the main event - there we hundreds of them in deep bay.

Great Egret In Breeding Colours That bit of their face mask goes blue and their beak goes black in breeding season.

Marsh Sandpiper This bird happened to wander close enough that I got a nice photo of it.

Caspian Terns In Crowd There were few terns and many seagulls, but the bright red bill makes them stand out.

Eurasian Curlew And Marsh Sandpiper The Eurasian Curlew is the much larger bird on the left with the crazy long beak. The two Marsh Sandpiper appear to be sleeping.
