Nara Placing House Fly Larvae
This took my aback when I saw it. This the forensics lab at SFU - through brough house fly larvae and you can put the larva in water soluble paint and then put them on a small card to make art. The kids pick up the larvae again and again, dipping them in different paint colours. Because the kids don't have experience with larva, they think it's fine to use them for art. People: Nara

Cabbage White Feeding On Flower
I'm still learning to take photos of butterflies - I always figured these white things were moths but I was wrong. These two were very active (chasing each other it seemed) and were very particular about which flowers they fed on. Species: Pieris rapae (Cabbage White)

Long Legged Anabrus
From the long spike on his tail, I thought this was a invasive katydid like a Drumming Katydid. I was correct on the Katydid, but wrong on the species and story. This thing is native. Tags: insect

Tree Nymph Eating From Flower
I don't add species to animals that are in captivity. While this particular species was flying around outside the zoo, I believe this picture was taken from inside their butterfly exhibit. John Harvey Photo > Trips out of the Country > Taiwan > Tree Nymph Eating From Flower

Dragonfly With Nymph Skin
This isn't the dragonfly that just crawled out of the pond - the dragonflies liked this perch and regularly pushed each other off of it. I'm not even sure that is the skin of a dasher - there are other species of dragonflies in this pond. Species: Pachydiplax longipennis (Blue Dasher)
