Fringed Grass-Of-Parnassus
Parnassia fimbriata to it's closer friends. There were few flowers growing this late, but these Saxifrage were one of the exceptions.

Tiger Lily

This example of Lilium columbianum.  There is a superstition
(or so says my book) that smelling a tiger lily will give you freckles.

Little Brown Jobby (Fox Sparrow)

This little guy was our insect Saviour!  He loved eating black flies and would eat
the flys flying around the deck areas.  He became quite tame (and fat).
I believe this is a Fox Sparrow.

Common Red Paintbrush - Castilleja miniata

As we ascended up Hatchethead Mountain we encountered a clearing with Paintbrush.  As we continued to ascend,
the paintbrush thinned out and disappeared again.
