The Trail Is A Little Wet
It rained overnight so parts of the trail there were just moist before were now mud puddles.

Mud Pit Hiking
This is the kind of trail that is often called a "corduroy road" because all the logs laid across the trail resemble an extremely large example of corduroy fabric. While it's muddy (the logs rot at different rates), it's better than no logs.

Hiker In Meadow
Once the weather got nasty, a whole train of hikers started coming off the mountain.

Fork In The Road
Yes, it is mostly grass up there. In the late summer, it is much drier.

Walking Back to the Telescopes

The thin air up there has less than 70% of the oxygen we are used to so even a short
hike (and this was short) is tiring.

Walking in Kilauea Iki Crater

It was a little moist (blowing mist), but a lot of fun.

Walking Devastation Trail

A lava flow in 1959 ejected pumice cinders that covered a large region
down range from the Volcano.  This trail is built on top of the pumice and
shows how life is reclaiming the area.

Rickety Bridge

See the hiding wood nymph?  This bridge walks you over a boggy bit of trail.
