Photographers In Garden
One of the things I like about Japanese photographers is that they all travel with tripods. No one looks at you strange when you show up with a tripod. John Harvey Photo > Trips out of the Country > A Fourth Trip to Japan > Osaka > Photographers In Garden

Plum Blossom
Given how early this flow is out, it is most likely a plum blossom John Harvey Photo > Trips out of the Country > A Fourth Trip to Japan > Kyoto > Plum Blossom

Lilies With Maple Behind
I like this photo because orange and maroon aren't common garden colours, but they work so well here. John Harvey Photo > Blogs for 2024 to 2005 > June 2007 > Lilies With Maple Behind

Intermediate Egretta - I believe. This a crop of larger frame. John Harvey Photo > Trips out of the Country > A Third Trip to Japan > Kumamoto > Flying Bird

Intermediate Egretta
Besides being Japan and the species being very different - I'm pretty sure it's not a Great Egret because the legs aren't black all the way up. Species: Egretta intermedia (Intermediate Egret, Plumed Egret)

Pond With Carp
These were the most rowdy of the koi we saw in Japan. There were fish food stands along the water (honor system to pay) and the fish knew that people meant feeding time. John Harvey Photo > Trips out of the Country > A Second Trip to Japan > Kurokawa Hot Spring and Takachiho Gorge > Pond With Carp

Tree In Suizeni-koen
The trees In Suizeni-koen garden are well maintained, a little overly so sometimes. John Harvey Photo > Trips out of the Country > A Second Trip to Japan > Welcome To Kumamoto > Tree In Suizeni-koen

Garden And Pond
This is the view as you walk into the park. With the haziness, I wasn't happy with the photo, but I'm sure you could do a lot with a long lens. John Harvey Photo > Trips out of the Country > A Second Trip to Japan > Welcome To Kumamoto > Garden And Pond

Model of Garden
This is a model of the Rock Garden. The real garden is pretty hard to get far back from so this John Harvey Photo > Trips out of the Country > A Trip to Japan > North West Kyoto > Model of Garden

Rock Garden
This is the Zen Garden in Ryoan-ji. From the viewing platform you attempt to see all 15 stones, but only 14 (or fewer) are visible from any position. This fifteenth century garden has all sorts of tricks. The far wall isn't even close to level and gives you a sense of depth from the forced perspective. The trees behind the back wall all have seasonal version (Cherry blossums, or falls colors, evergreen or deciduous.). The garden runs roughly east to west and the viewing platform is on the north side so the shadows change over the course of the day.
