Mallards Pushing Through Ice
I have never seen a duck break up ice to swim. Given the snow on the ducks back, I'm thinking these birds regret not flying further south.

Ice Climbing at Upper Johnson Falls

I think the start of climbs are particularly challenging because most of the climbers were hung up at this level.

Ice Climbing the Side of Upper Johnson Falls

You can see just how worn some of this ice. Notice the big spikes that have fallen
above the climber.

Ice Climbing at Upper Johnson Falls

These lesser ice walls were caused by seaps from above the cliffs.  I
think the slow flows of water are needed to form the sheets that are good
for climbing.

Rock in Ice

I was tossing rocks at the large pond at the wood mill behind
the Grandparents house.  I like the subtle colors.
