Bridge Over Bay
Our train ride along the coast often had nice views of the ocean, but for a few seconds, we rode over the ocean. (This is the Yura River)

At Shinkansen Station
We took the Romance Car down which is not a Shinkansen. The train we were on was a local train so we didn't hit super fast speeds.

Rising Up Hill
This gives you some sense of the pitch going up the mountain. I like the diagonal windows.

Packed Door
The train came, filled, and then just sat there. The trains still ran on schedule, they were just totally overfilled.

Local Train
We didn't actually take this train today. The doors at the front of the train open so that it can connect to another train and make a large/longer one.

Shinkansen With Lights
This is one of the older style trains - it doesn't have the long nose

David In Front Of Shinkansen

Shinkansen to Aizu

We got on this one! Those markers on the ground tell you which car
pulls up where. The yellow strip is for blind people. The edge strip is to keep you
away from the trains. There is a station conductor to help, when all that fails.

Sean on Train

Nara is about 50 minuets by local train from Kyoto.  Of course
any opportunity to sleep...
