Coyote Walking By
Coyote should have fluffy tails. This one is pretty bare - generally caused by the irritation from mange. The cool kids could tell you if this is a Mountain coyote or a Coyote Wolf hybrid. I have no idea.
Species: Canis latrans (Coyote)

Orca Breaching Composite
The whale doesn't need to get this far out of the water to breath - she (short dorsal fin) is looking at us.
Species: Orcinus orca (killer whale, orca)

Belted_Kingfisher
This is a three image composite (in photoshop). I don't own a long lens so this is the best I can do.
Species: Megaceryle alcyon (Belted Kingfisher)

Black-crowned Night Heron
These birds weren't anywhere near the trails - this was the best view through the trees. The birds seemed to be sleeping most of the time we were there.
Species: Nycticorax nycticorax (Black-crowned Night Heron)

Common Yellowthroat
This little guy had a really nice song and was flying along the length of the ditch. He (this is a male) mostly hid in the brambles but did sometimes come out.

I used to think that all small birds were "little brown jobbies". Not so much anymore.

Species: Geothlypis trichas (Common Yellowthroat)

Nara Jumping Out Of Tree
I think I took 9 photos but they were too close together and would have overlapped heads so I used fewer frames.

Peregrine Falcon
Shooting against a bright background doesn't help. This bird never really got close and of course it was moving fast.
Species: Falco peregrinus (Peregrine Falcon)

Justin Playing On Trampoline
Apparently a Trampoline is great for training for doing crazy skateboard tricks. Justin has had lots of experience getting airborne.

Timing
This is how long it took us to do the gap between each trail marker. We had lunch at marker 9 and deducted the time for lunch from that gap.

King Fisher Fishing
This is 5 photos composited in photoshop. This tiny bird was repeatedly fishing (dumb fish) so I shot on each flight. Too bad I don't own a 1500mm lens.
Species: Alcedo atthis (European Kingfisher, Common Kingfisher)

Turkey Vulture Circling
The white and black contrast on the underside of the wings is quite striking.

Grizzly Bear Rubbing Tree

It was dark (past sunset), I was on a moving boat and I had slow speed film in the camera.  I beleive these
are 1/8th of a second shots (on tripod).

Dive Sequence By Rocks
Here three whales were feeding quite close to a rock wall - the water is about 130 feet deep here. This Humpback (Megaptera novaeangliae) has most of one fluke missing.
Species: Megaptera novaeangliae (Humpback Whale)
