Bog Orchid Stacked
This is a tricky plant to get a decent depth of field photo. It tried taking a few photos at different depths but without a tripod that is quite tricky to do. This is 3 images stacked.
Species: Platanthera dilatata (white bogorchid)

Great Burnet With Butterfly
The flower is quite striking. The butterfly was a nice touch. I thought this was a European Skipper at the time, but it quite clearly isn't.
Species: Sanguisorba officinalis (Great Burnet, official burnet), Lycaena mariposa (Mariposa Copper)

Frosty Drummonds Cinquefoil
Love it when the species is actually a "species complex". Thistle is another example - many look similar and might be hybrids.
Species: Potentilla drummondii (Drummond's cinquefoil)

Jeffreys Shootingstar
I have a soft spot for Shootingstar - I smile when I see them growing.
Species: Primula jeffreyi (Tall mountain shooting star, Jeffrey's shooting star)

Juvenile Golden-Crowned Kinglet
The Juvenile's do look quite different from the mature examples. This bird was gleening as part of a larger flock. By the time I got my camera on a tripod, the flock had mostly moved on.

I have another photo with a better view of the wing bars.

Species: Regulus satrapa (Golden-crowned Kinglet)

Pacific Fritillary On Sitka Valerian
I've been having a lot of trouble taking photos of butterflies recently - they just don't stop moving. This one did so I took lots of photos.
Species: Valeriana sitchensis (Sitka valerian), Boloria epithore (Pacific Fritillary)

Canadian Burnet
At first I thought this was bear grass but as I got closer I realized it was something different. I needed to ask the UBC Botanical Garden Forum to figure out what it is.
Species: Sanguisorba canadensis (Canadian burnet)

Slender Bog Orchid
This is quite distinct from the white Bog Orchid which was growing close by. The flowers are very green and the stalk was taller.
Species: Platanthera stricta (slender bog orchid)
