Base Of Another Totem Pole
I don't have a more complete photo of this pole (unfortunately). The three figures in view are Ha'ma'a, Raven and a Sea Monster. The carver is unknown, but it was carved as a memorial for Wa'otsa'as - wife of Sam Charlie.
New and Old Totem
The figure on the bottom is holding a copper on his chest. This totem tells part of the creation myth - it was carved by Bruce Alfred in 1995. It's part of the Nimpkish Burial Grounds in Alert Bay.
The totem in the back has since fallen down. The figures carved are Thunderbird, Dzunukwa, Grizzly bear with a copper in its mouth, Raven, Sisiyutl (Thunderbird with no ears/horns). It was carved by Arthur Shaughnessy and was raised in 1924. It was carved as a memorial to Chief Wakas.
Giant Halibut Totem
Giant Halibut Totem (past of the creation myth) was carved by Stephen Bruce in 1995. It's part of the Nimpkish Burial Grounds in Alert Bay.
