Great Blue Heron In The Frost
These are farm fields - for some reason, there are a lot of rodents out there. This looks like a Juvenile - strong two tone orange and dark beak, and very little stripe on the top of the head. Species: Ardea herodias (Great Blue Heron)

Frosty Foggy Swamp
I like these near monochromatic images - not photoshop, I promise. I'm a little upset how little depth of field there here - I should have used a tripod. That said, I'm basically standing in (above) water so I'm not sure where it would have gone. John Harvey Photo > Blogs for 2024 to 2005 > December 2009 > Frosty Foggy Swamp

Frosty Deactived Road
I loved the light in this shot. It's really hard to show on a small image, but on a larger image (where you can see detail), it's cool. The only real colour is the red "deactivated" sign. John Harvey Photo > Blogs for 2024 to 2005 > December 2009 > Frosty Deactived Road

Cut Block With Frost
Logged out clear cuts are usually an eye sore but with the frost and the forest behind, it made an interesting panorama. John Harvey Photo > Blogs for 2024 to 2005 > December 2009 > Cut Block With Frost

Covered Hot Spring Water
I like the frost on the top of the covers. John Harvey Photo > Trips out of the Country > A Fourth Trip to Japan > Nagano > Covered Hot Spring Water

Frosty Springs
These are where the locals cook vegetables - the water can hit 60+ degrees Celsius. John Harvey Photo > Trips out of the Country > A Fourth Trip to Japan > Nagano > Frosty Springs

Frost Covered Trees
This was an amazing sign - a whole forest covered in frost (rather than snow). John Harvey Photo > Trips out of the Country > A Fourth Trip to Japan > Nagano > Frost Covered Trees

Frosty Twine On Wood
My grandfather had build a roof over a long wood pile. Using blocks of wood he caused the metal sheet to bend so that water wouldn't pool on top of the pile. Tags: frost

Frosty Bucket
I remember these buckets from growing up - they held scraps for the compost or rocks picked out of a garden or a hundred other natural things. John Harvey Photo > Grandparents House > Frosty Bucket

Frosty Leaf In The Grass

Bull Rush Frosted
I assume this frost has built up over days of freeze cycles. Tags: frost

Sun Low Over Horizon
The frost covered reeds were cool - the sun low on the horizon was kind of depressing because it was mid afternoon. I took a shot on a trip to Aristazabal Island that is similar in composition. John Harvey Photo > Sun Low Over Horizon

Bent Over Grasses
I've seen other, more compelling versions of this, but it was nice to see. Tags: frost

Ice On Lake Surface
Cracks were where most of the interesting features were found. I was surprised how smooth the lake surface actually was - I guess the lake freezes very slowly. Tags: frost

Blade Frosted
I think I would have liked the background 1 stop fuzzier, but the depth of field was already a pain. John Harvey Photo > Blade Frosted
