Cormorants Hanging Out
These are Brandt's Cormorant in mating colours - bright blue throat skin and white tufts of feathers on the head and lower back. Species: Phalacrocorax penicillatus (Brandt's Cormorant)

Colony Of Cormorants
These black dots are Brandt's Cormorant. Each nest is a bit of a raised platform. You could see the birds picking grass off the slopes when we above ground. Species: Phalacrocorax penicillatus (Brandt's Cormorant)

Two Birds Looking Aside
This colony is cool because the birds are stand on top of bamboo trees, not on a remote rock like many Canadian colonies. The lack of plumes (long feathers) and the season says this is the non-breeding plumage. The dark feet say juvenile to me. Species: Egretta garzetta (Little Egret)
