Female Orca Blowing

I've seen lots of Orca's on -2 Channel, but seeing them live
is something special.

Species: Orcinus orca (killer whale, orca)

Syncronized Sunning
They weren't sleeping - there was lots of barking and swimming going on as well.
Species: Zalophus californianus (California sea lion)

Sea Lions Near Shore
Apparently that barking sound is an easy way to tell the steller from the california sea lions.

Rock Island In Cave
I used to think these were California Sea Lions, but it's pretty clear they are Steller Sea Lions. Stellers are generally a lighter colour and the males are much larger than California Sea Lions.

Pod Swimming By
We were starting to pull away when this pod popped up. That is likely a young whale between the two females and you can see the larger male dorsal fin with a wave in it.
Species: Orcinus orca (killer whale, orca)

Large Male Leaving
This is a the same male that was photographed in the next four shots.
Species: Orcinus orca (killer whale, orca)

Female and Male Orca

The male in front has a much larger dorsal fin than the female.

Pod of Female Orcas

This is a small group out of the large pod. These smaller pods were loosely connected
into the large pod traveling south.

Species: Orcinus orca (killer whale, orca)

Seals on Belle Islands

Pretty much snack sized Killer Whale snacks.  They were on the same chain of
Islands as the Sea Lions, but they were in a separate area.

Species: Phoca vitulina (Harbor Seal)
