Smoke From Forest Fire
The Lillooet fires started a few days before but the smoke really came into the valley in the day I was hiking. These fires really marked the beginning of forest fire season for 2004.

The strips on the ground are dams as part of the guide way for lava. I'm guessing that slowing the lava down will make it less likely to spill the banks.

This is an eight image panorama - taken with the camera in portrait perspective. It's always a challenge to get the correct parts of the image in something this wide - I hoped to get the board walk but missed the corners and couldn't crop the bottom as far as I wanted.
Coloured Mountain Flat Valley
This particular view wasn't the most spectacular, but it kept catching my eye - the nude coloured mountains in the distance didn't match - and the wide broad valley gave a wonderful stage to show them off.

This is a 5 image panorama. The color range was pretty good. It's funny seeing a big hill taking up so much of the image.
