And some
clever quip...
July 26th
This year we happened to be in town for two nights of
fireworks. We had choices - we could have gone to the English
Bay Beach or Kits Beach but the kids wanted to watch from the
Burrard street Bridge. Tonight's fireworks are sponsored by
Mexico and I think they tried to do a mexico flag (Green, white red)
burst of fireworks.
I used to hand trigger the photographs of the fireworks. Using
a cable release, I could time the exposure for roughly 1 to 6
seconds and I would mentally accumulate the image - shorter
exposures for scenes with lots of fireworks, longer exposures if not
much is going on. Taking a timelapse doesn't really let me do
that - I get roughly 200 photos (10 per minute x 20 minutes) to pick
from, but they are all the same exposure. The goal for me is
to a few good photos and 200 generally gives me enough choices.

I thought for a second night the kids would want to go to one of the
beach, but nope, bridge again. This night was "performed" by
the Philipines. I actually had trouble remembering the
Philipines flag (Blue, white and red with a golden yellow sun) and
the people around me couldn't remember either.
If there is one thing I could say I did differently here - i stuck
around later so I could watch the crowds of boats and people
drain. I should stick around even longer, but generally
someone needs to go pee and it's a bit of walk off the bridge to
where we get picked up.
