We
like the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Garden. It's small and very inner
city, but it's also like nothing else around here. It isn't
exactly kid safe (there are lots of places for kids to fall in the
water or slip down a steep slope) but there are giant koy and
turtles to look at. Chinatown is a nice place for an afternoon
walk and the garden gives you a good reason to go down.
Victoria for Thanksgiving
My
mom had a new guest for Thankgiving! Caitlin from the East
Coast Harvey's has just started at UVic and we had not yet had a
chance to properly say hello.
Caitlin is studying marine biology (one of my favorite topics) so we
needed to find some water. We considered a drive out to
Botanical Beach but the tide isn't that low and it is a long drive
with a baby. The Breakwater has nice access to the ocean and a
few good rock outcroppings to do the tide pooling thing.
Of course Nara has never been tide pooling and she is always game to
stick her fingers into things. I was quite surprised to see
she like Sea Anemones.
Last but not least, we needed to get pumpkins! There is a
great farm down by Island View Beach where you can pick your own
pumpkin. Nara wasn't soo keen on pumpkins but as long as there
was someone to pick her up, she was good.
A Visit to the Williams
We have been meaning to visit the my sister
and her family for a while but either they were sick or we were
sick. We finally found a weekend where neither family was
ill so we went for a visit. James is growing by leaps and
bounds. He is now standing on furniture under his own power.
Play at the Local Park
It's fall so there are lots of leaves on
the ground. It was a great day to go out for a walk and kick
some leaves.
