Mixed Flock
This has the bar-tailed Godwit with the black bellied plovers to give a comparison for size. If the bird has it's beak out, it's easy to spot but if it's sleeping or beak in the sand, it blends in pretty well. John Harvey Photo > Blogs for 2024 to 2005 > August 2017 > Mixed Flock

Bar-tailed Godwit
They have a funny behaviour where they still their bill in all the way to their face. They seemed pretty successful at pulling food out of the sand. Species: Limosa lapponica (Bar-tailed godwit)
