Everything needs to be cleaned before it's used to process sap.  This
pan was made by my uncle and cousin.

Hi, I am trying to make syrup with my friend from Maine. I live in Liberty Maine and have loads of tree's. What material did your uncle use to boil the sap?? Thanks for the picture, its great!

The pan is made out of stainless steel - similar to pots for the stove. I'm 100ure this is a custom made pan.
