The bridge is located in Iwakuni, further down the coast from Miyajima. The bridge was originaly built in 1673, but was destroyed in 1950 and rebuilt in 1953.

I was stationed at Iwakuni in 1957 when it was a Naval Air Station. I have visited this bridge a number of times and think it is one of the most beautiful places that I have seen. I was a photographer all my life and have a number of BW images taken here. It really doesn't look any different than it did 50 years ago. Thank God for that.

I was stationed in Iwakuni Oct.1963 to Oct 1964. It looks like it did when I was over there. It is great to see some else enjoyed the bridge as I did.
