The castle behind is a reconstruction of a castle that was torn down in 1615. We didn't have enough time (or castle patience) to go visit.

I have been there many times. I was stationed in Iwakuni 1996-97. That spot is one of the most beautiful places in all of the world. Spellbinding and magical... very romantic.. you have to go there to fully appreciate it...
