Vancouver Art Fair
The Vancouver Art Fair is new to me
- I saw a lawn sign and looked it up and it turns out this is the
7th year they have been running. The fair is run in the lowest
hall of the Vancouver Convention Center and there were easily a
hundred plus booths for artists and galleries. There was a
large speaking area where artists would present about themselves and
their work and there was a little cafe.
There were
artists from Vancouver proper, but also lots from the greater lower
mainland and a few from further away. Vancouver does have
money and some artists did have lots of red dots in their booth, but
it seamed that some artists did much better than others.
2023 West of Main Art Walk
I have been to the West of Main Art Walk before - this is
something like the 30th year they have been running. This
art walk has both studio spaces and a larger shared space the Kits
House.
Some of the homes are setup as Galleries for the event and they are
showing dozens of pieces on every available part of the walls.
Other homes had a "studio" in the back yard where people do pottery
and then a few folding tables for friends.
The kits neighborhood is a fun place for a walk - there are lots of
shared swings around for your swinging pleasure.
Kits house had maybe a dozen artists
showing their work. They had some canvases outside trying to
attract people to come inside. I have to say, it is really
impressive to see Canvas out in the sun like that.
