VanDusen has a building outside of the pay area where various clubs from the community put on weekend show and sales.  They run through the spring and a few in the fall.  We have a small planter and light in the house and Claira likes small (think bonsai scale) plants.  This trip she understood how amazing some of the show plants are - you cannot find plants like these for sale in just a plant store.

 
The people selling plants are very kind.  They often are selling special colours or shapes of plants you could use to start your own collection of show plants.  I have a soft spot for the living stones, but we already have one at home we are trying not to kill.

Claira is finishing elementary school.
