East Side Culture
Crawl!
I love the East Side Culture Crawl. I can't go every year
and some years I don't have a lot of time, but there is always new
people to talk to and new things to see.

Thursday nights I love to go to 1000 Parker Place. Thursday
night is the least busy night and 4 floors of studios give you
hours (like 5pm to 10pm) to explore. There are a few favored
artists that sell out on the first night, but most artists are
happy to have guests and customers.

I've been
going for lots of years but there are both new studios every year
(not to mention new artists in existing studios) and there are a few
locations I haven't yet gotten to. This year my big surprise
was Porchlight Press. This is a retail store with a variety of
mechanical presses. They have lead type and all of the parts
required to make a printed page. They were doing demos of
their printing machines. I really liked printing when I was in
high school and this was an amazing throw back to school.
I do enjoy the smaller studios and the home studios.
