Fishing At Sunset

This is probably one of the rental boats from (just around the corner.)
We wondered what mountain that was - looking at the Topo maps, I'm guessing it's

Sunset with a view of Spout Islet

The land on the left is part of Hanson Island.  The island on the right is Spout Islet.
Earlier today we went kayaking between the islands.

Panoramic View of Jenny Inlet

This is four shots, poorly combined.  The area has been extensively
logged and there are logging roads.

Curve of Time Tied up at Jenny Inlet

This float was used by Interfor to load logging equipment
onto the site.  It's not currently in use and is meaty enough to hold the Curve of Time.

Link Lake Dam at Ocean Falls

This massive dam used to provide power for the pulpmill and town at Ocean Falls. There are
log floats to keep the logs from going over the dam. I wonder how much the wood is worth today.

BC Archives has a photo from roughly the same place

Cabins and Forest - Wallace Bay

There were a number of cabins Wallace Bay. There doesn't seem to be much
use of them today, but for the most part they are still standing.

Ocean Falls From Boat

Welcome to Ocean Falls!  was built in the 20's and still provides power.  The
from the old pulp mill is on the right, the
are on the left and you can see BC ferries dock
on the far left.

Broad Shot of Namu

This is Namu from the Ocean.  The large buildings on the left are the remains of the fish processing
plant.  To the right is the hotel and then the entertainment build and bunk house.

Wharf in Namu

This is current dock in Namu - large vessels can dock (on the left) and smaller boats (like the 90 foot curve of time)
can use the water level dock. In the background you can see the hotel, jail and entertainment building.

Coming into Namu

It was a raining morning when we spotted Namu.

Rocky Landing on Vansittart Island

This is the inland side of Vansittart Island - some what difficult to land
a Kayak and pretty much no where to camp.  We did find a Kayaking grounp
around the corner perched between the beach and the trees.

Ocean Caves on Vansittart Island

I'm not sure if this cave is the result of ocean or freshwater erosion, but
caves were pretty common in this area.  You can see the trees have been sculpted by the wind.

Humpback in Burke Channel

We were coming up the Burke Channel towards the Nootsum River
when we saw a Humpback come coming up.  The humpback was down
for a long time and we lost it.

This looks like it is still an active logging site.

Jaques and Charles Kayaking

That rock wall is the southern end of Spider Island as seen from Fulton Passage.  The waves were rough
and I got sick pretty quickly.

The perspective from a Kayak is unique.

Group of Seven

This is part of Anne Island in Spider Anchorage, BC. The geography reminds me of me of a group of seven painting.

House with Boat

Closer to town, bigger boat, bigger island - money has it's privileges.
Welcome to Ganges Harbour. (Inside waterproof bag.)
