Oregon Coast Road Trip

The original plan was to spend two weeks in California going from San Fransisco to Los Angles with stops for Disneyland, the Monterey Bay Aquarium and visit a few friends. Then we went to Cabo San Lucas for spring break and it turns out my kids can't take heat. California in August isn't cool, but around 30° didn't seam unreasonable to me. The kids ran away to their hotel room when Mexico hit 25°C. Oh well, change of plans.

I have been to the Oregon coast twice - once for the May Long Week and once with my sister and her husband (there is no web page!). We have been to Seattle countless times (Visiting Rainier, Woodland Park Zoo, for a wedding). I tried to book a few activities to reproduce the "theme park rides".

Portland
August 14th and 15th, 2024

We spent a day shopping and then spent a day in nature, visiting Multnomah Falls and then white water rafting on the White Salmon River.

Mid Oregon Coast
August 16th to August 18th, 2024

We booked a sandrail trip in the sand dunes and I was as sick as I have been in years. We also did a Grey Whale watching trip and visited the sea lion in Newport. Nara and I completed the Oregon Dunes Loop Trail.

North Oregon Coast
August 18th to August 22nd, 2024

We went tide pooling at Ecola State Park. The kids tried the High Life Adventure Park and we visited Cannon Beach. On the way back we stopped in Seattle for some more shopping.
