Downy Woodpecker And Pine Siskin
From what my book says, this is classic Pine Siskin behaviour - trying to convince a larger bird to leave the food source so it can have it all to itself. This shot also shows prime Pine Siskin features - forked tail and yellow bar on the wing. John Harvey Photo > Blogs for 2022 to 2005 > April 2013 > Downy Woodpecker And Pine Siskin

Downy Woodpecker On Feeder
Seeing as peanuts normally grow underground (and aren't really a nut) I really doubt a Woodpecker would normally feed on them. Species: Picoides pubescens (Downy Woodpecker)

White-necked Jacobin Hummingbird
When I came back from Costa Rica, I discovered they have way more than the two species you see Vancouver so I dubbed this "Blue Headed Hummingbird". The internet showed me the error of my ways. Species: Florisuga mellivora (White-necked Jacobin)

Green Thorntail Hummingbird (Female)
I believe this is a Female Green Thorntale based on images I found on the internet. The males have nice wispy tails. Species: Discosura conversii (Green Thorntail)

Douglas Squirrel Mother
Sometimes you find more than you were expecting when you take a photo. This Squirrel is a mother and has three nipples showing on this side (three more on the other I would assume). I assume by September all her babies are grown up, but it's possible she is fed well enough to have two litters a year. Species: Tamiasciurus douglasii (Douglas's squirrel)

Red Brested Nuthatch Eating Peanuts
There is a lot of feeders at the Richmond Nature Park. If you are lucky to go when there is no one else there, you see more species. If there are lots of kids running around, you only see squirrels and chickadees. Species: Sitta canadensis (Red-breasted Nuthatch)

Hummingbird Flapping
Now I really like Hummingbirds. The next goal should be to get rid of the feeder. Species: Selasphorus rufus (rufous hummingbird)
