Trip North in Covid Season

The original plan (booked 6+ months in advance) was to go up to Haida Gwaii.  We had a RV booked, Ferries booked, campsites booked and activities booked and then COVID arrived.  Our plan was quickly picked apart - the Haidi closed their islands to visitors, BC Ferries canceled our reservations and our activities canceled.  By April, all we had left was the RV booking.  Thankfully, BC got COVID under control and did open the province up to internal travel by the end of June.  This trip turned out great - while most of BC headed to the Okanagan and Vancouver Island, we went where no one else was - the North!

SBends In Chilcotin River
Farwell Canyon
July 6th and 7th, 2020

We organized our trip to try and do one driving day and then one activity day.  Our first two nights after leaving Vancouver were at the Historic Chilcotin Lodge about 45 minutes West of Williams Lake.  Farwell Canyon was a quick drive from there and we did the hike up to the sand dune to watch the Chilcotin River

High Grass Meadow
Beaumont Provincial Park
July 8th and 9th, 2020

We had a lot of km planned, but we put a stop in the middle - the El Shaddai ranch just south of Prince George.  We spent about two hours on horseback with a views of the interior plateau.  Our next day was at Beaumont Provincial Park on Fraser Lake.
Forest Walk Lakelse Lake
July 10th and 11th, 2020

BC Parks has a number of giant camp grounds and Lakelse is one of them - more than 200 camp sites.  The Park has an old growth forest that feels very familiar to anyone from Vancouver.

We visited the farmers market in Terrace.
Four Fish For The Freezer Prince Rupert
July 12th to 14th, 2020

The far end of our road trip - we booked a day for a salmon fishing trip!  Our RV had a large fridge with a real large freezer - big enough to hold 4 salmon and a halibut!  We spent a day in "town" to do laundry and restock before we started returning to Vancouver.
Kids With Somewhere To Go 10 Mile Lake
July 16th to 18th, 2020

The weather started getting wet so we rearranged our schedule to get to the interior faster.  While most first nations attractions were closed, KSan was still open so we stopped in!  10 mile lake near Quesnel was our destination.
Bighorn Sheep Portrait Return to the Fraser Canyon
July 18th and 19th, 2020

A first for me - we spent the night at a RV park instead of a provincial Park.
