As always, be prepared for a wait. To get to Saltspring without going to Vancouver Island, you have to have reservations - the ferries are fully booked.
At Tsawassen terminal, to take the ferry to Victoria (we will then take a ferry to Pender Island from there). We passed a huge amount of stopped traffic on the road to the terminal, as apparently the windows ticketing system had crashed (surprise!)

The two species are easier to tell apart when they are standing next to each other. When they are separate, you can tell by the head to beak ratio.
