This was shot at the Hauola O' Honaunau, a stone expanse where
people would visit priests after they broke some Taboo.

Hey there I was just looking up mushroom pics on the web and I wanted to let you know that those don't really look like honeys. They look like they may be Gymnopolus spectabalis or big laughing gym.

I may be wrong and without a spore print etc... Great pics though :) Have good one.

Nice and shiny.  I used the fill flash which helps give the shiny reflective surface.

My best guess is that these are "Argyrops bleekeri", sometimes called Taiwan tai. It is rated "Least Concern" for going extinct.

i dont think fish should be treated like in a plate

Western Anemone - Anemone occidentalis
Most recent comment: Monday, September 20th, 2010 at 23:06:55
This isn't the flower - it's the seed stage of Western Anemone - Anemone occidentalis. It was surprisingly hard to find in the guide books, but it is quite common at Manning Park.
Species: Pulsatilla occidentalis (White Pasqueflower)

Nice shot! I was at the Alpine Meadows yesterday afternoon ( 15 Aug 2010 ) and the anemone was one of the very few plants still worth photographing...alas I was too late in the season for everything else....some wilting paintbrush and a couple of other flowers could be seen. I checked out your page via Google in the morning before driving to Manning, so I owe you a big thank you for adding to my knowledge of the flowers one can expect to see at Alpine Meadows; provided one gets there at the right time!!

Curve of Time Driving By
Most recent comment: Saturday, June 19th, 2010 at 11:01:13

I think this is my favorite shot - We are in the South Bentinck Arm, just past
the Tallheo Hot Spring with the Bentinck Spire in the background.

Sorry but I do not think that is Bentinck Spire in the back ground, not sure of the name but I believe the Spire is some nine km further south of this mountain which is 6638 ft high. From the picture (which is a super one) I would guess that you were on the way east in North Bentinck Arm headed for Bella Coola. From North Bentinck Arm looking south west I think the Spire is the second peak from the the right of the group of four very rougged peaks above a large snow field.

The castle behind is a reconstruction of a castle that was torn down in 1615. We didn't have enough time (or castle patience) to go visit.

I have been there many times. I was stationed in Iwakuni 1996-97. That spot is one of the most beautiful places in all of the world. Spellbinding and magical... very romantic.. you have to go there to fully appreciate it...

Inukshuk In False Creek

Inukshuk In False Creek

This was the coolest thing about the olympics I saw when I was down there to take in a hockey game. The thought that this is a somewhat spontaneous display being done with no cost and simply from a human need to create or leave a mark, is truly what makes it memorable. I didn't see it until after nightfall and the mist coming off the water, the sheer number of them gave me a real shiver!

Cabin Without Exterior
Most recent comment: Monday, February 15th, 2010 at 23:43:33

This is my friend Greg's cabin at Wallace Bay. It was a beautiful place to stay and his son and daughter-in-law are regular visitors from Ocean Falls. The trails around the cabin are beautiful to walk along and when we stayed we got our water from a creek not far from here. It was beautiful. I actually have the exact same photograph that I took when I was visiting.

Dear John,

This is a good experience to see the nice pictures from you of Jaisalmer. They all are fabulous. But the picture 'Bag of peas full to bursting' is actually filled with green chilies and not with peas.
