NC-F270H Japanese Float
I found the catalog for this item online. This float is 600mm in diameter and 1180mm long. It weighs 13kg new (ours was pretty scraped up, but still water tight) and provides 270kg of buoyancy. Apparently list price is ¥28,000 - something like $260 Canadian Dollars. The website describes it as: Balancing durability, safety, and economy. Tags: derelict

Sailboat Aground At Kamaole Beach Park I
Washed up sailboats are a big problem in BC. I suspect Hawaii has the same problem. This boat washed up on December 6th (according to the GoFundMe page) and they have been raising the money to get it going again. The owner used to live in the boat moored just off shore but the storm had other ideas... John Harvey Photo > Blogs for 2024 to 2005 > Maui > Resort > Sailboat Aground At Kamaole Beach Park I

Sand Formed Around Sailboat Hull
I think this sailboat has been on the beach for a while - the sand has been formed by waves washing around the boat. I suspect the keel is buried into the sand. The hatch on the front deck appears to be broken. John Harvey Photo > Blogs for 2024 to 2005 > November 2021 > Sand Formed Around Sailboat Hull

Wrecked Sailboat
The hull of this boat is covered in mussels and the crows are feasting on them. You can see the wrecked barge on the next groyne John Harvey Photo > Blogs for 2024 to 2005 > November 2021 > Wrecked Sailboat

Crows Picking Mussels Off Boat
I was curious to see if the keel was buried in the sand. I'm not sure if this boat had a keel at all. John Harvey Photo > Blogs for 2024 to 2005 > November 2021 > Crows Picking Mussels Off Boat

Barge On The Rocks
I believe the rocks are part of the groyne used to preserve the beach. This barge normally holds sawdust and broke away during a storm. Tags: derelict

This bridge is apparently "iconic" to Spences Bridge. I didn't see any evidence that it is still used. John Harvey Photo > John's Overnight Page > Spences Bridge > Church In Spences Bridge

Shepherds Cabin
The Cabin is tiny - there is sleeping space for 1 and standing up would be a challenge. Apparently it was built by John and Frank Ronacher in the 1950's when they used the meadows as summer pasture for their sheep. It hasn't been used since the 70's and it's nearly falling apart.
