Western Anemone - Anemone occidentalis
This isn't the flower - it's the seed stage of Western Anemone - Anemone occidentalis. It was surprisingly hard to find in the guide books, but it is quite common at Manning Park.
This little guy was our insect Saviour! He loved eating black flies and would eat the flys flying around the deck areas. He became quite tame (and fat). I believe this is a Fox Sparrow.
