Mallards Pushing Through Ice
I have never seen a duck break up ice to swim. Given the snow on the ducks back, I'm thinking these birds regret not flying further south.
I think the start of climbs are particularly challenging because most of the climbers were hung up at this level. (Johnson Canyon, Banff National Partk)
These lesser ice walls were caused by seaps from above the cliffs. I think the slow flows of water are needed to form the sheets that are good for climbing. (Johnson Canyon, Banff National Partk)
